The best ceilidh band in the West!
BLACK VELVET BAND CEILIDH TRIO guarantees you a brilliant night of ceilidh fun. The band specializes in providing barn dances for weddings, community events and family events.
Along with the two musicians, the band includes a dance-caller who will walk you through the dances and call the moves when the music strikes up. Don’t worry if you’ve never danced before - the caller will start with easy dances and will make sure that you don't end up in too much of a tangle!

Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio - Keziah's Wedding Ceilidh - September 2026
Black Velvet Band provided the Ceilidh for our wedding reception. It was great fun, the guests all enjoyed it. The dances were great, Jennie was very easy to understand and was very patient with those that didn’t get it at first.
The band was wonderful, great tunes and lovely singing during the break.

Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio - Jack's Wedding Ceilidh - August 2026
We booked Black Velvet for our wedding at Crowcombe Court. They were on time, polite and did a great job of managing what was about 100 first-time dancers in a limited space.
It was brilliant fun. Thank you so much!

Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio - Nancy's 30th Birthday Party Ceilidh - August 2026
Black Velvet Band ceilidh Trio were excellent at my 30th birthday party. It was such a fun evening and everyone told me how much they had enjoyed it! birthday celebration so memorable. Would heartily recommend.
Mike and John, the musicians, were amazing and very talented. The dances were fun and, with clear instructions and guidance from Jennie, quick to get to grips with. It was the perfect activity which everyone loved! They were also highly organised and easy to contact, as well as providing suggestions for format and music that have worked best in their experience. I would highly recommend to anyone throwing a barn dance or ceilidh!

The band were great musicians and managed to organise lots of teenagers as well as us oldies during a joint 18th/50th party. Everyone danced and really enjoyed themselves - I would highly recommend them!

Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio - Bristol University Summer School Ceilidh - July 2026
We have booked the Black Velvet Band for the past 3 years to run a ceilidh for our summer school students. It has been an absolute pleasure working with and getting to know the band over the last few years. The dances are always fun, easy to follow, and energetic - perfect for any ceilidh beginner! I would highly recommend this group for any and all events.
A quote from one of our students sums it up nicely: "My favorite activity was the Ceilidh, where everyone from the summer school learned traditional British dances. It was a joyful night in a beautiful garden at the university, and I will treasure the memory for some time."
